1. Material Selection: 304 vs 316 Stainless Steel
Standard kitchen appliances and cheap barbecues made from 430-grade stainless steel will develop surface rust within a single British winter. For outdoor culinary suites, all built-in grills, drawers, and access doors must be fabricated from 304-grade, or preferably marine-grade 316-grade stainless steel.
Cabinet carcasses must never use wood or MDF. We build all frames from structural concrete blockwork or anodized aluminum profiles clad with porcelain stoneware.
2. Worktops: Flamed Granite & Sintered Stone
Engineered quartz is designed exclusively for indoor use; outdoor UV rays will break down the binding resin and turn quartz yellow within months. For outdoor kitchens, 30mm flamed natural granite or sintered ceramic stone (such as Dekton or Neolith) is essential.
Sintered stone can withstand direct contact with hot cast-iron pans straight off the grill, is 100% UV-immune, and cannot be scratched by knives.
3. Rain Shelter & Motorized Louvered Roofs
In the UK, unexpected rain showers are inevitable. An outdoor kitchen paired with a motorized aluminum louvered pergola transforms usability. At the touch of a button or automatically via integrated rain sensors, the roof louvers rotate closed to create a 100% watertight seal.
4. Essential Plumbing & Electrical Utilities
Planning underground utilities before paving is vital. Armored SWA electrical cables on dedicated RCD breakers, frost-protected water supply pipes, and gravity foul water drainage should all be ducted through trenches before foundation slabs are poured.
